The Communications and Digital Signal Processing (CDSP) Center is the focus for research and graduate education in the areas of communications, signal processing, and control systems at Northeastern University.
We are committed to:

CDSP Adjunct Professor John Makhoul,
who was Awarded IEEE's Highest Award in Speech. BBN Technologies, an advanced
technology solutions firm, announced that Chief Scientist John Makhoul is the
recipient of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 2009
James L. Flanagan Speech & Audio Processing award "for pioneering contributions
to speech modeling." The award was established in 2002 to recognize outstanding
contributions to the advancement of speech and/or audio signal processing and
is the IEEE's highest award in speech processing. Dr. Makhoul will accept the
award, consisting of a bronze medal, a certificate, and an honorarium, at the
IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal processing in Taipei,Taiwan
in April 2009.
